One person might define home differently from the other when you ask what home is like for them. Most people would instantly think of their family and the physical home they spent their childhood with and at. Or else, people would think of the present house they are living in at the moment, where they can lie down to rest and enjoy privacy.

But a shocking news about a big natural disaster which happened recently makes me think of another ‘home’. Our lives on earth could end at anytime and at any cause. Life’s span can be long or short when we calculate it in terms of time. When it is too short we will frown in dissatisfaction. Life should have been longer because this or that kind of future should have been reserved, we may think. When it is too long, we will scowl as well. Life should have been shorter because one doesn’t deserve to face too much pain or difficulty, we may believe. But even if one dies at middle age or after living just enough, still we will be upset and dissatisfied. So when is the right time to die? Or maybe the trouble actually lies on more basic question, what is life for?

Still in the middle of that natural disaster’s relief, another shocking news came. A dear friend’s daughter died of brain cancer. Shocking, because it was only last week that she was diagnosed for her disease.. Four years and 10 months in sum she had lived in this world. Too short? Maybe, again if we calculate it in terms of time.

I remember her as a beautiful and smart little girl. Her big eyes always glowed, showing her inquisitive mind. Always cheerful, talkative, and lively; she was lovely, lovely and lovely..

But the question is still there, what is this life for?

As for you Chacha, you’ve always amazed us with your curiosity. Maybe your life is a reminder to us, that life is full of fascinating things which worth exploration and adoration. You’ve always brightened your surroundings up with your lively soul. Maybe your life was meant to be the source of joy for the people around you..
